Searching for Meaning - exhibition design
Searching for Meaning – exhibition design
This exhibition invites visitors to explore the profound relationship between art and meaning. Featuring works by iconic artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Johan Thorn Prikker, Jan Toorop, William Degouve de Nuncques, Odilon Redon, Pierre Puvis de Chavannes, Jan Sluyters, Charley Toorop, and Piet Mondriaan, among others, the collection spans a rich history of artistic innovation. Through these artworks, the exhibition explores what it means to experience and interpret art in our contemporary world.
The exhibition environment itself is designed to enhance the reflective experience. We created flow and seating in a very modest palette to invite the visitor to slow down and concentrate on the art. Inspired by architect Quist’s structured yet intimate grid system, the space features walls and screens that play with transparency, creating surprising views and subtle contrasts. Searching for Meaning is not just an exhibition; it is an invitation to philosophize, reflect, and discover new layers of understanding in both art and life.
